THE SUNDAY SECTION

A bit of a strange day; so some strange information to go with it.

As far as I can tell these laws have not been repealed.

All English males over the age 14 are to carry out 2 or so hours of longbow practice a week supervised by the local clergy!
It is illegal to be drunk in a pub or bar.
Any boy under the age of 10 may not see a naked mannequin.
In Scotland it is illegal to be a drunk in possession of a cow.

It is legal for a male to urinate in public, as long it is on the rear wheel of his motor vehicle and his right hand is on the vehicle.

In Chester you can only shoot a Welsh person with a bow and arrow inside the city walls and after midnight.
In Hereford you may not shoot a Welsh person on Sunday with a longbow in the Cathedral Close.
In York, excluding Sundays, it is perfectly legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow and arrow.

Under the Town Police Clauses Act (1847) it is illegal to slide on ice or fly kites in a public place.

Taxi drivers are required to ask all passengers if they have smallpox or the plague

It is illegal to eat mince-pies in England on Christmas Day

In Liverpool it is illegal for a woman to be topless in public, unless they are a clerk in a tropical fish store

It is illegal for a lady to eat chocolates on a public conveyance

It is illegal for a Member of Parliament to enter the House of Commons wearing a full suit of armour.

Sleeping with a consort of the queen is classified as treason, and as such carries a maximum penalty of death.

Placing a postage stamp of the queen upside down is also considered treason.

It is unlawful to impersonate a Chelsea pensioner.

It is illegal to sell most goods on a Sunday.
It is however legal to sell a carrot. It is also legal to sell it at any price, and to give free gifts with it, such as anything else one might want to buy on a Sunday.

It is illegal to die in the Houses of Parliament

If someone knocks on your door in Scotland and requires the use of your toilet you are required to let them enter

In the UK a pregnant woman can legally relieve herself anywhere she wants, including in a policeman's helmet

And finally:

Under the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 it is an offence (carrying a maximum
penalty of £1000 for each offence or 14 days imprisonment)-

To beat or shake any carpet, rug or mat in any street (except door mats
beaten or shaken before the hour of eight in the morning);

Wilfully and wantonly to disturb any inhabitant by pulling or ringing any
doorbell or knocking at a door;

Wilfully and unlawfully to extinguish the light of any lamp in any street;

To leave any furniture, goods, wares or bucket on any footway;

To roll any cask, tub, hoop or wheel upon any footway, except for the
purpose of loading or unloading a cart or carriage or of crossing the
footway;

To erect a washing line across any street or hang washing on it;

Publicly to sing any profane or obscene song or ballad in any street;

To order or permit any servant to stand on the sill of any window to
clean or paint it;

And if you want to you can spend the day proving me wrong.
