UBUNTU DAY THREE

The title has leaped from Day one to three because Ubuntu changed from the dog's bollocks to the dog's dinner.

It asked me very nicely if I would like to upgrade to the latest version, and after 2 hours of down loading and installing it crashed with seven minutes to go, and I tried to recover it but nothing, the only alternative was to re-install, and to be honest I couldn't care less.

So I am now using Fedora which I downloaded today, it is a bit slower at installing, but the desktop is much nicer, the options are better and the "feel" of it is better.

It also has pre-created docs, pictures, downloads and music folders where Ubuntu didn't.

The other thing was that I couldn't copy and paste the day two blog into blogger, and I couldn't upload pictures either if you are reading this you can in Fedora.

I am tethered to the router by cable at the moment but hopefully I will sort out the wireless connection when I can find the right drivers for the wireless card.

Time will tell.

More updates to come, when I have sorted it all out.

To be honest Cherry P the free operating systems are boring, I used to be a programmer but even I can't be bothered to fart about.

having said that the Fedora 10 os is a good basic system, I could probably sort out the wireless problem, and if not then the wired internet connection is fine, but slow, the built in word processor is good and compatable with Blogger.

If the expense of windows is too much I think that Fedora fulfils basic needs.

As long as you don't want too many extras.
